Admit/Discharge/Transfer — the HL7 v2 message that announces patient events.
ADT (Admit, Discharge, Transfer) is the most common HL7 v2 message type. It announces patient demographic and visit events: A01 (admit), A03 (discharge), A04 (register outpatient), A08 (update). ADT feeds drive registration mirrors, bed boards, and downstream interfaces.
